Yuri Bashmet, the famous Russian conductor and violinist, performed with the Moscow Soloists, the chamber orchestra, at the Antwerp Cathedral, Belgium. The concert was held as part of the Russian Culture Seasons Festival with the support of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and EuroChem Group AG.
The Moscow Soloists, conducted by Yuri Bashmet, performed various works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rossini and Shubert. The Bolshoi Theatre’s young opera singers also performed together with the chamber orchestra, presenting Britten’s ‘Les Illuminations’ and Brahms’ works for voice and strings.
The concert has become an important part of the cultural life of both countries.
The performance was a gift to the city by EuroChem on the back of the Company’s fifteenth anniversary.
Antwerp is the home of the Company’s subsidiary, EuroChem Antwerpen, which produces complex fertilisers, as well as calcium and ammonium nitrates.
EuroChem’s employees from Antwerp (Belgium), Mannheim (Germany) and Zug (Switzerland) attended the concert as well as many local residents.
