Acetaldehyde (acetic aldehyde СН3СНО) is produced by acetylene hydration; it is used in production of acetic anhydride, acetic acid, aldehydic synthetic resins, pentaerythritol, 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and other products.

Acetic aldehyde – flammable liquid, easily oxidized by air oxygen.
Acetic aldehyde is transported in special tank cars or truck tanks made of carbon steel with polyisobutylene lining of inside surface, in compliance with goods transportation regulations applied to this type of transport means.
