Novomoskovskiy Azot (NAK Azot) is one of Russia’s largest chemical enterprises. It has been thoroughly upgraded to achieve greater efficiency, product flexibility and reduced environmental impact.
Key products and capacity:
Located in the town of Novomoskovsk in the Tula Oblast, approximately 220 kilometres south of Moscow, Novomoskovskiy Azot, is one of Russia’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers and ranks first in Russia in urea volumes.
Since acquiring the facility in 2002, EuroChem has worked to broaden the product mix and increase capacity while bringing the production processes in line with modern environmental standards.
Among some of the investments realised, a new 300 thousand tonne per annum methanol production facility was launched and the plant also began producing stabilised ammonium nitrate and de-icing agents. A large-scale upgrade of the ammonia production facilities was also carried out.
In parallel to the growth in capacity, the Group has been actively investing in environmental safeguards, include overhauling the internal water consumption system to reduce freshwater intake and upgrading effluent treatment facilities.
