A scheduled comprehensive training involving all special and emergency services took place in the Kedainiai district on the premises of the Lifosa chemical plant.
The aim of the training was to test the readiness of the civil defense system, local authorities and non-governmental organizations to carry out joint operational activities in the event of emergency. More than 100 firefighters and first responders, police officers, medical staff, as well as Red Cross volunteers and representatives of other agencies took part in the large-scale exercise.
During the exercise, the following tasks were carried out efficiently:
- Containing a simulated fire;
- Evacuating of the local population;
- Deploying an aid center for evacuated citizens, including those with disabilities.
The training managers and specialized observers highly praised the participants’ readiness. The coordination between the emergency services, the plant management and the Emergency Management Center was seen as seamless and fully compliant with the site’s internal emergency plan. The training clearly demonstrated the region’s readiness to ensure maximum public safety under any industrial challenge.
