EuroChem-Karatau launches advanced first aid training and off-duty injury prevention program
An advanced first-aid course has begun at the EuroChem-Karatau site in Kazakhstan, with all employees gradually joining the initiative. Every team member already possessed basic first-aid skills as this topic was covered in the core occupational health course. However, with the introduction of a separate, more detailed program featuring both a theoretical and a practical examination, the training standard will be raised.
The employees are practicing how to respond to incidents, starting with the situational assessment and providing accurate information to the emergency services. They also master specific actions such as applying bandages, including a head cap for head injuries, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other basic yet vital skills. The training utilizes both standard first-aid kit supplies and items readily available at hand.
A separate segment is dedicated to debunking myths about first aid. A practicing doctor leading the training explains how to act in accordance with current medical guidelines.
Caring for our team members’ lives and health is not limited to the workplace since it is important that people are safe at home too. For this reason, EuroChem-Karatau launched an off-duty injury prevention program.
The initiative was the result of analysis carried out by the occupational safety department and HR pulse surveys. Employees noted that safety should be seen as a value not only on the workshop floor, but also in everyday life. This is precisely why the Company strengthened its occupational health program and placed an emphasis on involving employees in a culture of safe behaviour overall.
