EuroChem begins exporting hi-tech fertilizer from Ukraine

Zug, Switzerland, January 26, 2018 – EuroChem Group AG (hereinafter “EuroChem” or the “Group”), a leading global fertilizer company, has begun exporting UTEC®46, a treated nitrogen fertilizer, from new production facilities in Ukraine.

The first deliveries are being made to Hungary and Moldova. UTEC®46 incorporates an inhibitor that ensures better nutrient uptake in plants, reducing the loss of nitrogen by up to 50% and lowering the impact on the environment.

The product has already proved itself among Ukrainian farmers, delivering higher yields of corn, winter wheat and other crops in last year’s harvests.

The Group’s decision to begin production of UTEC®46 at Kremenets in the Ternopil region of Ukraine will give farmers access to a more effective and environmentally efficient fertilizer, and significantly cut delivery times to customers in Hungary and Moldova.

EuroChem began developing the new UTEC®46 manufacturing facility at Kremenets in February 2017. The plant incorporates state-of-the-art European production equipment, with all of its personnel trained in Greece, one of the largest markets in Europe for inhibitor-enhanced fertilizers.

EuroChem’s Ukraine subsidiary will identify other markets for UTEC®46 and carry out tests of the product on different crops in varied soil conditions in Ukraine. The company also plans to begin production in Ukraine later this year of its ENTEC fertilizers, which contain an ammonium stabilizer to ensure the slow, targeted release of nitrogen to plants.

UTEC®46 first appeared on the market in 2011 and is now available in 12 countries, with further expansion into seven more planned for this year.
