EuroChem receives top export award in Lithuania

Zug, Switzerland, May 13, 2019 – EuroChem Group AG (“EuroChem” or the “Group”), a leading global fertilizer company, announces that its subsidiary Lifosa has received the Exporter of the Year Award from the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists.

The award is based on several criteria, including productivity, investment, and the application of international management and quality standards, as well the volume of export sales achieved.

“We are delighted to have been recognized for our stellar export growth,” said Lifosa’s Director General Jonas Dastikas. “Our performance continues to grow and this is reflected in the numbers of jobs we have created and the contribution we make to the Lithuanian economy.”

One of Europe’s most modern fertilizer plants, Lifosa is based in Kėdainiai in central Lithuania. The company produces a range of phosphate fertilizers and feed products and exports 98% of its output to 47 countries around the world.

It’s the seventh time Lifosa, which employs 1,000 people, has won the Exporter of the Year Award.

The plant continues to receive substantial investment within the EuroChem Group. In October Lifosa opened a new €14 million ($16 million) facility for the manufacture of highly efficient, water-soluble fertilizers. These products are in high demand from farmers as they are engineered to make fertigation even more effective, offering considerable water savings and fixed fertilizer dosage for optimized crop nutrition, which results in improved crop quality and higher yields.

The new facility is now producing 25,000 metric tonnes of crystalline urea phosphate (UP) per year, adding to the extensive range of high-quality fertilizers already made at Lifosa. These include Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), a nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizer, and water-soluble crystal Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP Solub).
