EuroChem CEO Dmitry Strezhnev receives environmental conservation award

Moscow, March 30, 2018 – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation bestowed a state award on EuroChem CEO Dmitry Strezhnev on Friday for his dedication and commitment to the conservation of the environment. Mr Strehznev received the Honorary Nature Conservationist award from Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoi at a ceremony in Moscow. He was among several high-profile recipients at the event.

The award recognizes significant investment in conservationism, encouraging biodiversity, environmental compliance and education in associated fields.

“I’m humbled to receive this award, and do so on behalf of the entire EuroChem team,” Mr Strezhnev said. “As a leading global player in the fertilizer market, EuroChem dutifully recognizes the burden of responsibility it shoulders as it relates to protecting the planet and reducing our environmental footprint. We are constantly engaging, reviewing and updating our sustainability strategy to remain at the forefront of innovation in this regard.”

Positioned by EuroChem’s main beneficiary Andrey Melnichenko as a core element of EuroChem’s operations around the world, sustainability initiatives are visible across several fronts.

In one example, the Swiss-based company runs a Clean Water Program that has cut the consumption of fresh water used in production by more than 11 million cubic meters per annum. It was recognized by the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry in Russia as the best application of green technology in the country.

In another, the company’s product ENTEC® 26 was developed with the capacity to dramatically slash harmful emissions, becoming the only fertilizer in Switzerland to be recognized by the country’s Klimaschutz und CO2-Kompensation Stiftung (KliK), a foundation for climate protection and CO2 compensation. The foundation allocates funds to effective climate protection projects that fully comply with the provisions of the CO2 Act in Switzerland.

More on EuroChem’s sustainability endeavors can be found in the 2017 Sustainability Report, which was published earlier this month and is available on the company website.
